One night, one packed Great Hall, and a setlist that leaned hard into old favourites early.

Chet Faker played Auckland Town Hall on Saturday night as part of his A Love For Strangers tour, and from the opening notes it was clear this wasn’t going to be built around the new record. Support came from local duo 花溪 Flowerstream, the Māori/Chinese psychedelic soundscape act behind guzheng-and-drums record Flowers Dream, setting a hazy, meditative tone before the main set.

Chet Faker opened with “Over You,” easing the room in before pulling straight into “Drop the Game,” his biggest song and one of the night’s biggest reactions, the kind of moment that gets an entire hall singing back at him.

Then came “No Diggity,” his cover of the Blackstreet classic, and it landed exactly the way it always seems to on this tour: unexpected, then completely obvious. It’s become something of a signature moment across his shows, and Auckland’s crowd knew every word.

What’s next

Chet Faker’s A Love For Strangers tour continues through the rest of 2026. If Saturday’s crowd is anything to go by, Auckland won’t be waiting long for him to come back.
